Fight-ing
Sergio Angulo Espinosa, a 52-year-old taxi driver, is suffering from obesity.
After his divorce from the mother of his three children, depressive and disoriented, he slowly filled the emptiness he felt by all kind of food that we can find everywhere in the streets, in the famous puestos. The excess of fat, sweet and salty food brings pleasure, comfort and can even help to deal with anxious and depressive states. Consumers, involuntarily, are facing a slow suicide, according to psychologists.
Encouraged by his general practitioner, Sergio decided to attend a government program entitled « Yo Puedo » dedicated to inform and raise awareness on obesity, in the UMF 52 clinic of Coyoacan, south of Mexico City. He then started an intimate fight against obesity. His most important challenge, as he often tells me, is « to feel good », to move towards serenity in his mind and body.
